In 1992 Bruno and Partrick Matray took the destiny of Château du Bourg in hand.

Denis, the third brother, joined them in 2003 with his oenology diploma. The estate was enlarged at this time and we fitted out the vatroom at the hamlet of Adule.

Today we have vines in several different Beaujolais appellations.
 White Beaujolais

1.5 hectares in Theizé in the Pierres Dorées (golden stone) area in Southern Beaujolais.

We are rehabilitating this slope limestone-clay where the Chardonnay vine loves to grow.

Rosé Beaujolais and Red Beaujolais Villages

3.5 hectares at 2 places, Les Cluseaux and Les Marrans

These two plots, one rich in manganese and the other granitic, are tended with grassing between the rows of vines and shallow-ploughing of the soil, resulting in fruity, lip-smacking wines.

Moulin-à-Vent

1.5 hectares in the Vieux Bourg in Chénas

This plot of old vines faces the rising sun on excellent terroir.

FLEURIE :

11.5 hectares shared between 3 different lieux-dits or named places

6 hectares in the Adule Valley

This sandy soiled valley is quite exacting for the vinegrower. To protect the plots from erosion, they are laid out within a network of ‘charrois’ or tractor tracks that canalise any rain water. We take very great care looking after these tracks for the good of our landscape and vines. This terroir gives fruitiness and elegance to our ‘Adule’ cuvée.

  • 1.5 hectares in Grille-Midi

Full south facing and stroked by the wind, the vines delve deep into fissures in the granite. Respect for micro-biotic life by working the soil allows the full potential of our Grille-Midi cuvée to come through.

  • 4 hectares around Château du Bourg in the heart of the Fleurie appellation area.
